Thank you to the 300+ people that attended Open Studio: Bank Moody. I was truly overwhelmed with all the emotions that were shared over the four days of the exhibition. To all the tears that were shed and hugs that were felt thank you for confirming the indescribable feelings these pieces communicate to us all. An overview of the exhibition can be seen below. Artist Statement
It’s been said that the human race stifled its progression in understanding each other when they only focused on communicating with language and not feelings. From a young age, first-generation Immigrants are expected to express their energy with words and visuals that align with a tutor's definition of emotions and thoughts. When they lose their ancestors' native tongue there are words and cultural understandings that are lost simultaneously. However, over time a vessel can bring those cultural understandings back through various forms of connection and expression.
Over the past couple of years, Bank Moody has explored visual rituals by channelling energy and complex emotions. Utilizing ancestral research and material exploration, Bank Moody has embarked on a spiritual journey through the practice of libation, meditation and expressive painting in the endless search of accomplishing the emergence of a true self from an unnatural reality.
